The activities have been developed to inform educators, students and the general public about the science and research at the NCDC. The topics discussed include climate, weather, and satellites. The activities extend what is taught in the classroom and are correlated to the National Science Education Standards. Field Trip Earth is the North Carolina Zoological Society's conservation education website. The website tracks field-based research programs going on around the world. The site monitors elephants in Africa, red wolves in North Carolina, and several others. There are thousands of articles and photos on the site, as well as video, datasets and maps. Many field researchers keep diaries on the site as well. There are also several interactive features, including an interview tool. Implementation strategies for K-12 teachers are also included.
